This restored 1890s workers’ cottage is our home away from home. We have curated this space for you as much as for ourselves. We live with art every day and want to share this joy. In this cottage, you will experience some of our favourite art works from our collection.
The cottage is located on Bathurst Street in the heart of nipaluna/Hobart. The Pigeon Hole café is just around the corner, renowned restaurant Templo a few blocks away, and our favourite bar Sonny only a few minutes walk away.
Every Sunday, the city-end of our street transforms into the local farmers’ market. You will find artisan food, fresh produce, and delicious baked goods at the market.
Welcome to artstay cottage.
about your stay
The cottage is located in the Hobart Heritage Precinct. Built in the 1890s by a local Hobart businesswoman for her father, the cottage has been rescued to reveal the original floorboards, fireplace, and heritage features. Local heritage experts have also said that the picket fence might be an original feature of the cottage.
The cottage has two bedrooms and is light-filled, heated and equipped for cooking. The space has been curated for you as an art experience. There are currently a number of artworks from over seven Tasmanian, Australian and International artists in our gallery home.
You will have access to all parts of our beautiful cottage, including the sunny north facing front deck, perfect for an afternoon coffee.
This is our home away from home. We hope you love it.
